27 weeks

It's Mother's Day, and it was fabulous! Jack made me a wonderful card and "coupon book" at daycare this week. It is redeemable for things like big hugs, happy days, clean rooms (yeah right!), etc. He also gave me the Willow Tree figurine I've been wanting to add to my collection. My husband cleaned the house by himself, took me to breakfast, let me nap uninterrupted and made dinner. Who could ask for anything more? Not to mention we finally had a small unexpected break through with potty training a few weeks ago, but have found ourselves at a slight standstill ever since. Oh well, it will happen...eventually!

We saw the doctor again this past Wednesday and we are right on track. The girls are weighing in at 1 lb 13 ounces and the other is 1 lb 12 ounces. They have gone from a growth rate of 30% to 20% between the last two visits, but my doctor is not concerned at this point. Mainly, because I, myself, am not a big person and my body will just not physically allow for two huge babies. She says if we drop to 8-12%, then we will become concerned. Their heart rates are great, they are growing at an even rate and everything else seems to be developing just as it should be.

I have gained a total of 19 pounds thus far, though I have expanded to the exact size I was days before I delivered Jack and there are still, hopefully, 10 more weeks to go. Is it safe to ask just how big the human body can stretch?! The doctor doesn't see any sign of bed rest or an early delivery as of yet, but we will start to visit every 2-3 weeks now and I will have my 1 hour glucose screening next visit on the 26th (keep your fingers crossed!)

Not only do I feel the girls move constantly, which is probably my favorite part of pregnancy, you can now see them move. I imagine it will only get more evident as they, and I, get bigger and they begin to get more and more cramped for space. My husband can't wait. He is really looking forward to the opportunity to see an actual hand or foot through my skin. It's similar to when I was pregnant with Jack, but different. More intense, more all over. I think Brandon summed it up best (amazingly, considering he doesn't know what it feels like!) when he said it was like having an octopus going crazy in there. Well, there are 4 arms and 4 legs flailing around, so I suppose he is not that far off!
