It is a Wednesday morning, just a few days after Christmas and I ponder where this year has gone. Can it really be days away from 2011, a new year again, already?! I suppose it is. It was a crazy year. We survived our first year with twins (though barely, I think!), we made it through Jack starting Pre-K, two trips to Florida to visit my family in the van with the dog, I managed to keep a business afloat through another year, and, yes, the dog is still alive too. The house has a few more dings, the cars lots more miles, and Brandon and I have a lot more grey hair, but that all comes with the territory.
I should have listened to you all and downloaded pictures when you asked for them...The hard drive on my computer crashed and I lost everything. I had two companies look at it and neither was able to salvage even a single picture, one file, nothing. Some things were backed up, but some things will be lost forever...lesson learned. I went out and got an external hard drive to back everything up on so it won't be lost again. Oh well. We may not have the pictures, but we'll always have the memories.
And we made plenty more of those this year. With trips to the zoo, to the lake to feed the ducks, to Florida to visit my family, first birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas and so many odds and ends in between. I have also decided to keep up on the blog as well as scapbooking much more than the past. This is my new years resolution. My grandmother was finally diagnosed with Alziemer's (after my mother suspected for some time now) and is deteriorating fairly quickly. All any of us will ever have are the pictures, memories and stories that can be told and that, I have decided, is part of the legacy I will leave my children. The ability to tell those stories even when I can't anymore...
