Well, we have made it past the 1 month mark, and everyone is still intact...I think! Sleep deprivation has set in and most days are a blur and they all run together at this point. That's okay though, it won't last forever, will it?
The girls saw the doctor on Friday for their 1 month check up. Kate weighed in at 7lbs, 9oz and is 21 inches long and Olivia is 7lbs, 6oz and 20 inches long. She has really started to close in the gap on her sister. Other than Kate's herniated belly button which will heal itself as her muscles mature over time, they are perfect.
We took Jack to the state fair this past weekend, and did we have fun! The girls spent the day with Rich and Jackie and Brandon, Jack, Scott, Jenny, Kelsey and I all went to the fair. He was so excited to see Kelsey and all of the animals, though I am not sure which one he enjoyed more! While we were looking at the rabbits, Jack and I managed to get our photo snapped by the courier-journal and were in the paper online!
Then, we moved on to the area where all of the entries are judged. Quilts, ugly lamps, cakes, fish, etc. Only my child would manage to learn that the glass cases the cakes are displayed in aren't locked and proceeded to run amuck opening them at random while being chased by Kelsey, Scott and Brandon. Jenny and I stayed with the strollers and laughed at the spectacle.
We eventually made it back outside to the Midway where we purchased tickets for the rides. Kelsey immediately jumped into a bumper boat and had a blast while Jack stood on the landing and decided he was not going in one.
We tried the alligator roller coaster next door. Again, made it to the platform with a no-go. Kelsey was done with the boats and decided she would like to ride the alligator and Jack was game to ride it with Kelsey...until we got back on the platform and into a car. No-go number 2. With Brandon and I convinced we just spent money on tickets we were going to have to give away, we walked the midway and played a couple of games winning small, useless stuffed animals for the kids. Then, low and behold, we came upon a ride where they could sit in a fish shaped car and go around in a circle while going up and down at the same time. Finally, he got in. they loved it! They rode it twice. Super, now we only had 5 more rides to convince him he would have fun on and that wouldn't kill him! We found the super slide and he decided he would do that since he could ride with mom or dad. I went first and he howled with laughter the entire way down. So, he rode a second time with Brandon. Again, screeching with delight. We only ended up having to give away 3 tickets at the end of the day, and though he missed a nap and got a little cranky towards the end of the afternoon, I think he really enjoyed his alone time without the girls. Can't wait until next year!!
