Well, we hit a huge milestone yesterday...they slept through the night!!! Yes, bo
th of them. I woke up in a panic at 4:00am realizing I had not been woken up before then for a dirty diaper or a feeding. I jumped up to check and make sure both girls were still breathing (and, of course, they were!) and realized I had stopped breathing for a split second myself (anyone who is a parent knows this feeling!). Brandon shook off some cobwebs and asked what time it was, and then it hit him that he hadn't been up at all either. We both quietly laid back down in awe and pondered how much longer this silence would last. It was bound to be disturbed shortly by someone. To our surprise, th
e girls continued to sleep until 5:45am or so and I eventually had to go wrestle Jack from his slumber at 7:00am.
It was amazing! Everyone was in a good mood, there was no struggle to get dressed, or do pee-pee on the potty, or even over what to have for breakfast today. Slight resistance to brushing the teeth, but these days, if that's all he's going to throw at me (literally!), I'll take it! We did, eventually, get that done too, and Jack and Daddy made it out the door in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe by the time I go back to work, we will be on time. Oh, wait, there will be an additional two children to get ready and out the door as well. Forget it. We can kiss being on time for anything ever again goodbye. So, I will apologize now to all of our friends and family for not being anywhere we
said we would when we said we would!
I took the girls with me to see my doctor yesterday for my followup appointment. She was extremely pleased to make their acquaintance once more! Other than still having some some minor aches and pains, she has cleared me to go back to work, but advised me to take it slow and ease back in. So, that is the plan.
