Victory!

It was a normal Saturday night in our house last night. It was about 6:15pm and we had just arrived home from Brandon's parents house. I was getting the girls changed and ready for bed and Jack was next. Brandon had run back to the store to pick up lottery tickets (no, we didn't win...yet)before the Wildcats tipped off at 7:05. As I was changing Kate, Jack announced to me from the other room he had to go to the bathroom. Normally, this isn't a big deal. He has mastered peeing on the potty all by himself, however, he hasn't yet done poops on the potty, that is, until last night! We have bought special potty books to be read while on the potty "waiting" for it to happen...no luck. We have gotten sticker sheets for the fridge to collect stickers which in turn equal prizes at the store (worked like a charm for pee pee)...no luck. We had promised a trip to the store to pick out a toy of his choice...no luck. Eventually, we talked about going back to pull-ups...upset, but still no luck.
Finally, finally, it happened last night, just like everyone said...on his terms, when he was ready. I was shocked, amazed, relieved and oh so proud. A few years ago I would have never believed it if someone told me I would be proud of someone for pooping, but I was! So proud, in fact, that after Daddy got home and celebrated as well, Jack and I went to Toys R Us just like I had promised, to pick out a new toy.
